Living Art
What we focus on grows and by creating inspirational and positive image for ocean health our hope is that we will be inspired and take action for the preservation of well being for all future generations. ~ The Marine Foundation
Living Coral Art Project which merges marine science and creativity to create strong, positive and visual images to raise awareness and innovative eco tourism attraction to generate an on-going income for the coastal communities.
The Living Coral Art Project is an international program of stunning underwater installations which simultaneously regenerate marine habitat. Interactive eco art that sustain communities and the marine ecosystems on which they depend. A positive and inspirational facade to a serious program of environmental standards and action activities; A symbiosis of design and nature.Art has the power to convey information in a subtle yet dynamic way, encouraging enquiry through being inspired rather than shocked into reaction. In this time of environmental crisis people are experiencing an increased desire to learn and understand ways to contribute to our human survival. By developing an innovative and prominent artistic program, we seek to inspire, restore, raise awareness and establish a global network that will enable contribution and facilitate action. Our growing selection of partners are increasingly understanding the benefit of approaching environmental issues from a new and more positive perspective. Our focus is directed to areas with high level human interaction where the natural marine eco-system has either been destroyed or is under severe stress. Our Primary objective is to stabilise the eco system and then increase life and bio-diversity in these regions. We acknowledge the importance for communities to establish marine management strategy. We recognise that socio economic factors often present conflict in the long term success of the working no-take zones that are vital to replenish fish stocks and help in the repopulation of marine flora and fauna.
We are supporting the implementation of a nurturing relationship to the resources of the seas an approach more a kin to coral gardening and stewardship. Eco tourism, dive and snorkelling activities are an integral source of income. We work with innovative marine science and localised managing environmental NGO’s to ensure that our projects have scientific and environmental integrity. Close and sustainable relations with the community is a perquisite but it is our relationship to the arts that gives this concept its cutting edge.
The Marine Foundation is presenting a visionary relationship to rehabilitating and restoring marine habitat whilst forming ground breaking sculptural installations. We are exploring a new arena of eco marine tourism through creative expression in the underwater world. The creatures and plants of the sea are essentially looking for a place to hide and attach to and they really do not mind if it is an ancient geological rock from a thousand years ago or a carved piece of marble by Barbara Hepworth.
Our highly visual eco design projects are a powerful and positive tool for stunning promotion, raising of awareness and a fun way to education and communicate to an international audience. These artworks are coral and fish nurseries replenishing our seas with new life and therefore a way for us to creatively invest in the future health of our underwater habitat.
